About Me

Hey! My name is Michael (or Mike) Lewallen and I’m a Designer and a Front End Web Developer.

Currently, I’m working for IronNet Cybersecurity as a Lead UI/UX Designer helping them standardize their UX workflow as well as create a Design System to increase their design and development efficiency. I’m primarily focused on the user interface design of their flagship product utilizing my skills in high fidelity design and prototyping.

Previously, I was the Lead UX Designer at DealerOn, where I was in charge of the user interface and experience for all of their products as well as leading the UX team. I was originally signed on as a Web Designer for major car brands and dealerships around North America.

Prior to that, I worked for a small agency that specialized in WordPress development, explaining how this site was put together.

A Little Bit About Me

I graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Communications and Media Production. I’m a self-taught – I guess better put an ‘Internet’ taught – web developer. During the last year of college, I realized that the world of media was changing and changing fast.

Most everything was moving to the internet in some manner and I found that fascinating. With that fascination came hours, weeks, and months of me diving deep into the world of website development and design.

At first, it took a while for things to click, but after landing my first job before graduating everything started making sense. It was during the first year and a half at that job that I started loving the whole process of web development. From design to launch, I had my hands in everything trying to absorb as much as I could.

I’ve worked with small companies putting together a site that matches their branding all the way to creating design systems for companies as well as designing an enterprise-level analytics reporting platform. I enjoy new projects and all of the complexities that can come with them, after all, I’m a UX Designer, and solving problems is what I live for.

After over three years of working as a professional web developer and designer my skill set has seemed to revolve around front end development and UI/UX design.

The languages I use on a daily basis are:

  • HTML
  • CSS/SCSS/Bootstrap
